Barehipani Water Fall

Barehipani Falls is just 5 km away from Baripada, Mayurbhanj. It is surrounded by deep forests that add to its mystic beauty. The Barehipani Falls has a total height of 399 meters (1,309 ft). Technically it is called a two drop tiered waterfall. The tallest single drop is 259 meters (850 ft). The water descends majestically from the Meghasani hills in Mayurbhanj district. The water falls with such a terrifying noise that it blocks all sense of reason from the visitors’ minds. Some say that the water allures the visitor and casts a spell on all those that visit it.

From a distance it appears to be calm and cool surrounded by a natural rain forest that looks like a fresh bathed spinster. The water is pure, crystal clear and lucid enough to force the visitor to jump and take a fresh shower under the flowing stream. Barehipani’s beauty from the viewpoint on the other side of the hill is a thing to remember. As the birds in the forest become quiet at dusk, the sound of the waterfall becomes very prominent. The waterfall looks breathtaking during full moon.

The waterfall is famous all over the country for its breathtaking beauty. This flowing cascade of water gushes out from a wide cliff that captivates the eye of the visitors. The Joranda falls is situated close to the Barehipani waterfalls. This waterfall can be viewed all throughout the year. A major tourist attraction located amidst natural surroundings a large number of tourists come to visit this matchless beauty every year. The Barehipani falls allows the tourists to enjoy its appalling beauty in a calm and serene atmosphere. The tourism department of Orissa has taken special care to protect the environs in, which the waterfall is located.
But what is surprising is the lack of vegetation around the falls that seems to indicate during the monsoon season, the flow and speed of water is so high that it becomes extremely violent, and moves a very large amount of water that is not conducive for proper vegetation. The falls are located within the Similipal National Park which functions as one of the major Bengal and White Tiger preservations in India.
